About Us

About DirtZip — Built by a Gardener, Not a Horticulturist

I’m Tom Greer.

I didn’t start gardening because I had a plan. I started because I had a dead tomato plant, a bag of overpriced fertilizer that didn’t work, and a lot of questions that the internet answered with either too much jargon or too little honesty.

After 11 years of growing vegetables, herbs, and flowers in backyards, balconies, and raised beds, I built DirtZip to be the resource I kept looking for and never quite found.

No fluff. No “it depends.” Just what actually works in real soil, in real weather, with real beginner mistakes already accounted for.

What You’ll Find Here

– Honest plant care guides that tell you what to do when things go wrong — not just when everything is perfect

– Container and small-space gardening for people who don’t have a half-acre and a greenhouse

– Vegetable and herb growing guides built around the question: “Will I actually eat this?”

– Tool and supply reviews from someone who has bought the cheap version and learned the hard way

What I Believe

The best garden is the one you actually tend. You don’t need the perfect soil, the perfect climate, or the perfect setup. You need reliable information and a willingness to get your hands dirty.

That’s what DirtZip is for.
